Let’s not get too carried away with this dangerous sense of altruism that puts others before us. In moderation, sure, but I used to listen to that and it brought about complications on the final days of pregnancy and led to a difficult labour and delivery, because my baby was born in distress. All due to the stress my baby felt from me putting others first, rather than resting. I should have listened to that voice inside that said “you must rest, forget everybody else.” But I didn’t listen. I had all these ideals promoted by some in our faith that I should put my needs last.

I say: no! My family comes first.

Thank you John. Call it what you will, morality check, spiritual check, wake up call from God. I think we all have these moments where good and evil tug at one another. We have to just keep pulling in the direction of good. God will give us rest and reward after the struggle…I have to just keep pulling, praying…praying “He must increase I must decrease”.

Thank you John for your Great Reflection. The Good LORD and the devil contest for the control of our lifes, as individuals or as a nation. GOD’S fight is based on His Love to save the individual and the nation. The devil’s fight for control of the individual or the nation is based on selfishness, what will benefit only the person alone or a handful of friends, family members or relatives or the party he belongs to. We pray that the Good LORD take absolute control over us as individuals and as a nation.
