We finally agree on something, namely the Netflix special on Mary. Definitely a mixed review! So I am heartfelt in my sentiments for the loss of your brother. I have witnessed that story in many variations in my work. Rabbi Kushner phrased his book with the age old inquiry. Is God all-powerful and doesn’t care about us or does He care and is NOT all powerful. He never actually answers the question. I find that unsatisfying in all my human need to know. I also would not aggregate together abortions with other deaths that are caused by direct, malicious actions. Have you John done all you could to prevent abortions? Have you lobbied a Congress who has one party who relishes demonizing others, simultaneously stripping away any assistance to would be mothers struggling mightily in the name of frugality while engaging in specious claims while giving tax cuts to billionaires

Thank you, John. This hit close to home as I lost our youngest sister to an aneurysm 1.5yrs ago. We were informed she was ill and 30 minutes later she was gone. Many questions as to why, but in the end it IS all God’s plan, not ours. No doubt she and our parents are enjoying eternity awaiting our arrival. Life is precious.

John, thank you for your beautiful reflection. I'm sorry for the loss of your brother and the pain surrounding the circumstances. Again, a beatitudes reflection.
"My thoughts are not your thoughts and My ways are
not your ways" declares the Lord. Isaiah 55
I've turned to that verse so many times.
Jesus I trust in you.
Happy and blessed New Year to you and your family!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge and discernment of the readings and the feast of the Holy Innocents. You have made it relevant to our everyday life occurrences. Helps me re-focus the way I look at God’s plans for us, everyone different but each guided by God. Indeed ‘Believe’ !
Blessed new year!

A soul searching Catholic moment today Gospel is. The mystery of these moments are held in our faith. I wish I could answer some of the questions I have asked God. Trust is all we have to go with. Trust in the ways of the Lord. Peace with the Holy Innocents.
