He didn’t say Faith. We are to not focus on worldly things. Nothing was hypocritical.

This was always a confusing reading for me, too. Thank you, John, for providing clarity. Many do not use the gifts God gave them, while others use their gifts for evil. I pray I’m recognizing and using my gifts to the best of my ability for what God intended.

We are to hold those of the CHRISTIAN FAITH to a Higher standard because we are IN the faith and not OF the faith. But Then St Paul’s letter says WE should be CHARITABLE to EVERYONE and not JUST love those of the INNER CIRCLE. Two MESSAGES.

I believe that at times, God asks us to use talents we don’t know we have, or have never developed. I guess the guy with one talent didn’t think that through: he knew his master was a hard man, liking a profit, yet hadn’t the confidence to invest the talent given him. Interesting, because his master plainly knew the guy had the ability,or he wouldn’t have given him the talent!
