I enjoyed this reflection. In Ancient Greek “hypocrites” means actor. In this passage Jesus calls the Pharisees and Scribes hypocrites saying “all their works are performed to be seen”. Your analogies today really brought Christ’s message home. Thank you.

Thanks John for an insightful reflection. For sure many of us have done the same preaching…”Do as I say but not as I do”. This just reminds us of our own sinfulness…but, let us never forget that we also have an ever-loving and forgiving God. Lord, help us, lead us, guide us…and deliver us from all evil. Amen.
