I believe that most of what we know of the various Bible characters is what’s written in the Bible. A few writings were put down by those who came after, but very few. One must take into consideration that “poetic license” was used extensively to develop the characters in the various videos and movies. In other words, the author made up what they couldn’t know. Peter and the others may or may not have been as depicted in the video that is referenced…we just don’t know.

Wonderful reflection, John. My husband and I watch The Passion of Christ every Good Friday. Like you, it brought home to me how very much Jesus suffered for us. Every crucifix shows a relatively unblemished Christ. Far from the bloodied and beaten form that He would have to be after what He endured for our sake. Let our faith give all of us the strength to not fear death when our time comes.

John, I really joyed your reflection, thank you. We talked about watching the passion of Christ again but it was so gut wrenching we didn’t. However we are planning to watch “the chosen”.
