Hey Julie,

As usual, I truly enjoy reading your take on the reading and Gospel. Today's was no different. You did hit a couple of interesting topics.

One topic was the end of time and lately we've been reading Daniel and Luke about this subject. Most Christians are concerned about when these certain signs will happen and that they will be able to recognize them so they are not caught "by surprise". As you said, we all fear the unknown, the most basic emotion that ingrained in all of us. But I don't think the end of time is about "what" or "when", but more about "who". And we know who the "who" is, which should help elevate some of your fear.

Hopefully you'll sleep better tonight.

The best explanation of the visions and imagery of the "end times" that I have had is through some bible studies offered at my parish. One was titled "Revelation: The Kingdom Yet to Come" by Jeff Cavins and Thomas Smith. The other class I am taking right now. It is "the Prophets: Messengers of God's Mercy by Sarah Christmyer and Thomas Smith. Be aware that I am a Cradle Catholic and attended a catholic college and have taken other bible studies in the past. I am near 70 and am just now getting explanations about the bible that satisfy an adult perspective. If any of the

Thank you, Julie. Your reflection described perfectly the feelings of doom and anxiety that crop up every time I read an end-of-time passage. It always brings me to ask God selfishly to please wait a little longer, I'm not conformed to Jesus yet. Or I'm not ready yet! And our family members...I've not prayed all of them into accepting the Holy Spirit into their hearts yet. What about them? As always, the reflections are enjoyable and thought-provoking. In many ways, our culture has lost its ability to reason. And the scripture are like a breath of fresh air to my mind and my soul.
