However, I was a little shocked at your pastor’s reaction to your offering. First, it was an offering from a child’s heart. Secondly, it was all you had at the time. It made me think of how Jesus was praising the offering of a few coins from an old woman, and how that meant much more to God than the surplus of wealth that the church leaders gave (and made sure that everyone knew about!). Since the pastor thought that the staples were worth so much more than the nickle that you gave, it would have been great if, in your next offering, you would have filled your envelope with staples instead of money…..I think that would have been perfect for your developing sense of humor!
