I have always believed that Jesus came to open all people, including Gentiles, to God. Today’s reading supports that view, as you say in your reflection, Dan.

Steven Marsh had a good discussion on that reading (about the Canaanite woman) a few weeks ago. But both of these readings are such that you really need to look at them more closely.

I like the way you have done a comparison of the two houses in the 2 readings. Have never looked at it like that! It is true that we sometimes have a lot of division in our churches, and some people opt to stay away from the church because of this. We need to be humble and practice charity.
