Remember the scribes Jesus was talking to were priests. Jesus is warning the clergy, blind guides. Bad shepherds or wolves in sheep's clothing.
In another sense we all can be hypocrites but hey, look at our "leaders", man.

I have to agree with second Annoymous on this one Dan. I have been reading your reflections for a long time now and you do a fantastic job.

As I was reading this one, I paused a few times to soak in the take on the current state of journalism in America. I am sure as you state the are a good many good honest Christian folks, like yourself, in the industry. There just aren't enough in the right places.

Just as the scribes of Jerusalem 2,000 years ago, today those who decide what and how issues gets reported are nefarious 'journalists' with mightier pens seeding us with mental germs, feeding us placebos of conjecture instead of doses of reality.

Their intent seems to be to ensnare us to emotionally identify with them, adopt their positions as our own, to impose them on others and defend them when others disagree.

The truth has been stated and is quite clear. Love God above all things and love your neighbor as you love yourself. One does not have to go to the ends of the earth or the bottom of the ocean to find it. It is quite simple and can be practiced in ones home, at ones work, or in ones neighborhood. Indeed it is the bedrock of our faith and guides our interaction with God who is its author.
