Hey Dan,

Your question about how Joseph must of felt on the night that he found out that Mary was pregnant is interesting.

Try not to place yourself in today’s times. During the time of Christ, Jewish weddings were arranged. So, did Joseph know Mary? Probably. Did Joseph love Mary? Probably not. How could he unless it was love at first sight.

Back to your original question, we don’t know the answer. We do know he did follow the angel’s instructions. And most of us would’ve done that, don’t you think?

Beautiful reflection. But i look at Joseph more than as a Step Father. Being a Step Father would presuppose that he becomes Jesus’ Father because He was Mary’s spouse. I think it is more of a Guardian or Foster Father because the promise of God to David is fulfilled through him but Jesus still remains the Son of God
