I don’t know how many times I’ve read Genesis, but for some reason I never remember reading about “a mighty wind” before. So I reread it and the footnote that accompanied it. I do like the literal translation better, instead of wind, “spirit or breath [ruah] of God”.

When I read it that way, it reminds me of what Pope Benedict said, “If you look into the world, you do not see heaven, but you see traces of God everywhere.”

Thanks for pointing out something that I’ve been missing for years.

When he announced he was joining the Jesuits my parents rejoiced and I took pride… 11 years later he called me from Beijing ( where he was sent ) and told me he was leaving the seminary… my heart broke. my parents were upset … but stood by his decision… and have still. He took alot of time to adjust with the world he was in now. He joined the wrong course of education.. had a gf.. and tried to be “cool” and fit in .. I felt sorry and hurt cause he wasnt my brother anymore… he broke up and went in reclusion… He is now trying to get with his life and restart it with new purpose but I felt really bad that his faith dwindled …and he has no hope in christianity.. we need to pray more for the novices!
