Thank you for this heartfelt and powerful reflection. Saint Stephen’s boldness to preach the truth—even when it cost him his life—is a needed example in a time when so many shy away from clear biblical conviction. What really stood out to me was the reminder that our faith must be more than routine—it must be centered on a real relationship with Jesus Christ. He alone can satisfy the hunger and thirst of our souls.

While I may differ with some doctrinal views—particularly regarding the Eucharist—I wholeheartedly agree that Jesus is the Bread of Life. Eternal life comes only by believing on Him, as He said: "He that believeth on me hath everlasting life" (John 6:47). The outward symbols and religious customs are powerless without that inward faith. We must never lose sight of that personal connection to Christ, who fills the emptiness no ritual or routine ever could.

May we all speak truth with boldness and love, like Stephen, and never settle for anything less than a Spirit-filled life. Thank you again for the encouragement and challenge this post brought.

Dear Jon, thank you for writing. The Holy Spirit has a way of speaking through other people sometimes, without them even being aware of it. We are hopefully just His instruments. Others have been instruments of the Holy Spirit for us as well. Peace.

Dear Laura... Your reflection on todays readings is so apt. It makes me realise that the void I feel sometimes in my heart can only be filled by God and I must make him the centre of my entire being. This is a gospel of truth and I will never forget this reflection which speaks to me very directly and clearly too. God bless you.
