Silly question but you mentioned that you could not tell the prisoner to see a priest since he was not Catholic. Why can’t a priest hear and forgive the sins of any one in Jesus name if the person believes they have the power to do so?

Beautiful reflection, thank you for your words. For those having a difficult time going to confession, I am one among you, I must ask a question to my brothers and sisters in Christ- do I not ask God for forgiveness of my sins each week at mass during the Penitential Act? I have told myself that unless a specific sin weighs heavy on my heart, I confess my sins at mass and they are absolved. God Bless!

Confession is a difficult concept for me. As a convert I previously felt that this was totally between me and the Lord. Now the idea of putting into words my concerns with a Priest sitting before me is hard. I often feel like I am wasting his time as he may think I am being trivial. I try hard not to sin by living the life Christ asks of me and to keep kindness in my life and treatment of others. Most of my sins are failing to be industrious all the time, avoid contacts with others when I am feeling sad or along. In addition I debate with myself about my activity level in life as to it being because of my health. All fairly self involved which is probably my major sin. So as you can see, I am not always clear how to proceed. I did do a general confession this winter at the conclusion of a study group I participated in. I am working on it, but again it is a task in slow progress. I enjoyed your insight and the comments.
