This is the way they reason, but they are misled, their malice makes them blind. They do not know the hidden things of God, they have no hope that holiness will be rewarded, they can see no reward for blameless souls.
Today is the first day of Spring!
My wife, Anna and I are planning our garden. We have two plots that our apartment complex offers to gardeners who have a sense of hope that their seeds they plant and the plants they nurture will produce a great bounty of food. That is how it is supposed to work. We have storms and wind that can cancel out the work we do to produce a garden. Last year some vandals destroyed my corn crops. I had bugs in my lettuce the year before. Still, we like to get our hands in dirt and weed, water and care for our gardens. It springs from an eternal hope of success.
Sometimes life seems to be on the side of those who take the evil side of life and they seem to win in the short run. Nonetheless, God has a long memory. He loves all of us, but forgets our sins when we repent. Unrepentant sins are not forgotten.
I say this because doing the right think in the hope of our heavenly reward will not be done in vain. Just like tending a garden we tend our souls and are a witness to those who do the wrong thing that good is rewarded in the eyes of God. We have drawbacks, but we still move forward everyday. Saint Paul says that salvation is a race and, in that race, we always have the finish line in our minds.
Pray today for peace in this world!
