Bob – You make arguments that are false, such as “immigrants doing the work that our citizens are unwilling to do.” – the issue is with businesses wanting illegal immigrants, who are willing to accept less than what citizens SHOULD receive for the same work. The Bible also talks about the need for people to respect laws and those in authority. Unfortunately, you are back to being political again, and I suggest leaving politics out of your reflections.

Thank you for the reflection Bob. You shared some very valid points. I have a problem with the “illegal” part of migration as open borders are just a recipe for disaster. What I often wonder is how often do we thank God that we were blessed to be born in a country where freedom and opportunity are abundant and that others might desire that. Even to the point of risking life to get here. I think we’re all familiar with Emma Lazarus’ sonnet which says,
“Give me your tired, your poor, / Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, / The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. / Send these, the homeless, tempest-tossed to me, / I lift my lamp beside the golden door!”
