In all his activities he gave thanks to the Holy One, the Most High, in words of glory; he put all his heart into his songs out of love for his Maker.
Adoration!
Lent is fast approaching next week. What is your plan? Ash Wednesday is less than a week away. Fat Tuesday will come and go and with or without a plan for the season.
My Church has 24-hour adoration and not everyone participates in it. My plan is to not give up something, but to do more things positive including more adoration. (David) He placed harps before the altar to make the singing sweeter with their music; he gave the feasts their splendor, the festivals their solemn pomp, causing the Lord’s holy name to be praised and the sanctuary to resound from dawn. Formal adoration is important and necessary for us. It formalizes our relationship and dependence on the Living God in our lives. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit want to be closer to us. God doesn’t move. Only we can move closer to Him. Formal adoration is important because we move closer to God and glorify Jesus in our lives.
We don’t adore our living God only in a sanctuary but whenever we do the Will of God in our lives.
There will be some who for various reasons do not think adoration is for them. This is okay. What is the reason for the season of Lent. We repent sure, but that isn’t the only thing. We need to humble our arrogant minds to our dependence on God and a personal relationship with Jesus. God does not change. We need this season to learn more about the qualities of God. We are made in His image. Nonetheless, we as humans are not perfect as God is perfect. It is simple to me. If we want to spend eternity with Him we need to know more about Him. Still we have other options that don’t include adoration. We can serve the poor and needy of our parish. We can help our non-Catholic neighbors. We can adore God more by acting more like Him and loving others as He loves them.
There are many ways to perform adoration. Adoration is something we need to do to learn and improve our relationship with the Triune God.
God Love You Always
