Friday, December 5th First Week in Advent

The deaf, that day, will hear the words of a book and, after shadow and darkness, the eyes of the blind will see.

My neighbor, Iris, has worn hearing aids for years. She is a very social person in the neighborhood and a good Lutheran. If anything is going on in the area she knows about it. She is not a gossip, but a helper to anyone who needs a hand. She will garner assets from neighbors to help another neighbor.

Recently, she was told that hearing aids were not working for her and that she was going to get cochlear implants. The miracle of modern technology was not as holy as Jesus healing the blind or deaf, but a true miracle anyway.

Our first week of Advent is Hope for the future. Healing and rebirth are hard concepts when the world says that there is no Hope. My wife, Anna, has been stage four cancer for the last five years. We have hope that if Jesus wills it, we will have more time. God’s will be done.

Jesus is the source of the impossible where there is seemingly no Hope, but through Him the hopeful solution comes from a kind neighbor or technology. Never deny God, because the source is always part of the nature of a Merciful God.

The nature of God is insightful because we see that He is willing to heal us both spiritually and physically. God wants to heal us. We have to be open to His will in our lives. In Matthew 28:20 Jesus says He will be with us even to the end of the age. Those times might be good or bad, but the point is that Jesus is with us. We are never alone or without Him.

‘Do you believe I can do this?’ They said, ‘Sir, we do.’ Then he touched their eyes saying, ‘Your faith deserves it, so let this be done for you.’ And their sight returned. Believe in the miracle that hasn’t happened in your life. It is coming.

God Love You Always
