Friday, December 12th, 2nd Friday in Advent and the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe

‘For John came, neither eating nor drinking, and they say, “He is possessed.” The Son of Man came, eating and drinking, and they say, “Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.” Yet wisdom has been proved right by her actions.’

In one of my old churches, we had a vibrant Latin Community. There were many people from many countries in North, South and Central America. Every year this community had a huge festival for the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. These fellow parishioners were my neighbors and extremely generous with their time and talent to my old Parish.

The Mass itself was about an hour and a half, but the food and the celebration afterwards lasted for almost 3 hours. I ate or tried everything they put in front of me and my wife, Anna, and I had a great spiritual and social time.

Just like Juan Diego’s visit with Mary, we can find Jesus in many unexpected places in our ordinary lives. Don’t anticipate the future when your personal experience with Jesus can happen for you this very day. Someone may look different, but it may surprise you on how much you have in common between you and them when Jesus is present.

God Love You Always

  1. Thank you for your beautiful reflection. I too, find that is true. So often we have misconceptions or judge others based on that fact that they are different. Once we take the time to learn about our differences, we can see Jesus in the other person and how much we have in common.
