Beautiful reflection. It is also timely for me as I recently took an Emotional Intelligence (EI) course, which ‘Empathy’ is, of course, a big part of. EI was part of a Leadership course I took in my Executive MBA program about a decade ago, but taking a standalone EI course was great. A lot of what you stated about Empathy is covered in that course, which ultimately is faith-based even though it is not given from a faith-based point of view. God bless you always.

My college girlfriend majored in psychology and wrote her senior thesis on empathy (1961). She was also a wonderfully empathetic person, far more so than myself.
