Desert is a place apart from the world where the soul is alone with God. It was the transitional place between Egypt and the promised land . The people were free of Egypt but not completely free. Still on their way. Jesus spent 40 days in the desert prior to his ministry. The desert is a place of safety in which we grow closer to God

Thank you, Bob. I wonder if Mary is the reason Jesus was so close to John the Beloved. He knew John would be taking care of his mother until her death. She is clothed with the sun, and it’s interesting to think of the Miracle of the Sun in Fatima. Her proclamation in her Fiat that she will be called ‘blessed’ for all generations ties in with the Holy Rosary and her Immaculate Heart. It is amazing the different connections we make when we read scripture. It strengthens my faith. Thank you.
