Dear Laure, I am very glad and excited how you are explaining the gospel to lay man point of view. You are gifted in the word of God.I did not understand as being cunning like serpent and being harmless like dove until after your explanation. We have both serpents and doves in the church but only God will judges us.Thanks.

Dear Laura Kazlas,

I do appreciate your experience and sharing. It is true what you said about today's gospel. We have to be prudent not only about the persecutors, but also of those who play double role in their character. I am a missionary worker in Africa, but for a while I am here in your country at Boston.

Your life experiences that you shared are good examples of sinners, yes. Sinners who hide their sins, but yet receive the Sacraments & fully participate in the Mass. I am a cradle Catholic, an 'honest' sinner because I am forthright about my sin. I am one of those sinners that has divorced & remarried. In the US, the various local cardinals or bishops can call out certain sinners, such as myself specifically & tell us we cannot participate in Mass or other areas within the church. Similar to the Pharisees, where the Pharisees did not like Jesus because Jesus wanted to spread the good news to sinners, to share God's goodness with the sinners. The Catholic church, at least in the US, is pushing 'honest' sinners away from the church. My faith has grown tremendously in my life's journey. I know that God is in control of my life, I want to do His Will in my life and I firmly believe that He will lead me to where I am accepted, sinner and all.

I have only subscribed to "A Catholic Moment" for approximately one month. I now look forward to the daily comments and reflections like a "first cup of coffee in the morning", i.e., a wakeup call...

My belief as a convert to the Catholic Church is that the existence of the Church is a miracle... as far as I know there is no early reason the Catholic Church should still exist after 2,000 years... the history and development of the Church is filled with examples of corruption, violence, arrogance, etc., at various times in the past 2,000 years. I believe the Church continues to exist because of God's Will... in short, the Mission of the Church, "to bring people to Life more fully and completely", has not yet been completed... I became a Catholic because of the belief that the Church is comprised of Saints and Sinners, in short, that every man, woman and child in the human race is in the sinners category except for Christ and his mother Mary... I believe St. Joseph may also be in that category, however, we know so little about him...

As a Catholic who attends daily Mass, I believe one of the major messages of the Church is to "hang in there" each and every day... for example, my favorite morning prayer is "Help me to believe in all that I am and what I could be. Show me the stairway I have to climb... for my sake, Lord, teach me to take one day at a time"...

Thank you for the prayers Laura, today's reflection pretty much sums up the challenges one does face in every day life and the reassurance from God is very comforting.

Thank you for this beautiful reflection. Usually when this is read, the focus is on the 'sending you out like sheep among wolves" and the next part on snakes and doves is usually not dwelled on, but as I was reading this gospel today it was on the snakes and doves that resonated disturbingly on me. I can not easily comprehend the statement fully until I read your reflections. Thank you for giving practical examples on the matter, somehow it's meaning was made clearer. God Bless!
