“This is how the birth of Jesus came about.” The gospel reading today started out with these words. It sounds a lot like a parent who was getting ready to tell the story about the birth of baby Jesus to their children. Bedtime stories are a wonderful way to share your faith with your small children or grandchildren.

Rebellion, a Change of Heart and Righteousness
Did you happen to notice the correlation between the old testament reading for Mass today and the gospel? Actually, the responsorial psalm also carries this same theme. Sin, rebellion, a change of heart and righteousness. The first reading started out by saying: “Woe to the city, rebellious and polluted, to the tyrannical city! She hears no voice, accepts no correction; In the Lord she has not trusted, to her God she has not drawn near.”
The Joy of My Soul
The readings for Mass today are filled with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit can not be contained entirely within ourselves. It must be shared. When we have good news, we run home to tell our loved ones, our friends or our co-workers, because we want to share our happiness with them too.
