R: Here am I, Lord; I come to do your will.
I have waited, waited for the LORD,
and he stooped toward me and heard my cry.
And he put a new song into my mouth,
a hymn to our God.
Sacrifice or oblation you wished not,
but ears open to obedience you gave me.
Burnt offerings or sin-offerings you sought not;
then said I, “Behold I come.”
“In the written scroll it is prescribed for me,
To do your will, O my God, is my delight,
and your law is within my heart!”
I announced your justice in the vast assembly;
I did not restrain my lips, as you, O LORD, know.
Your justice I kept not hid within my heart;
your faithfulness and your salvation I have spoken of;
I have made no secret of your kindness and your truth
in the vast assembly.

And he put a new song into my mouth. The moment we read this I knew this would be what we would talk about.
Question?
What’s the new song?
I pray by now you all know the answer.
Love, Joy, and Peace!
Love, Joy, and Peace IS a new song, and in these times this is even a greater truth.
I met Jim Friday morning to bring him, and his wife who has Alzheimers, Communion, and he had told me earlier that she was becoming more difficult. We told Jim to, “Thank God the Father for the Death of his Son, the nails that were driven through His Hands, and the Nail that was driven through His Feet, and then Thank Him for the difficulty of the change in her disposition, and repeat the underlined part until you smile.”
As we said earlier, we came again on Monday to bring them Communion, and I asked Jim if he did as we asked last Friday?
And
Jim said, “Yes.”
We next asked if he saw a difference in himself, and Jim said he smiled after praying this prayer.
Smiled?
Jim you are in a difficult situation and you’re smiling, this makes NO sense, and Jim agreed.
But Jim did smile, and he realized that he couldn’t allow outside forces to determine his actions.
Jim had a choice, as we all do, either dance with satan, and get frustrated, OR Dance with The Triune God and live in Love, Joy, and Peace.
The Fruit of The Holy Spirit IS the new song, and Dancing with the Triune God goes along with the song.
Jim can’t control what will happen with his wife and her Alzheimer’s, but just like Jesus on His Cross, Jim can be filled with Joy as Jesus was on His Cross, and because of his Joy became an even better care giver.
Prayer:
If you want to grow in Love, Joy and Peace this is a result of growth in Patience, Kindness, Generosity, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control.

As you probably know, I use YouTube a lot. I find there is a wealth of information I have gained by this valuable tool.
In a previous blog we talked about Purgatory. I was brought up in the 40’s and 50’s believing God sent me to Purgatory to punish me for my sins. It was even worse than that. God had kept a record of all that I did, and this for decades bothered me greatly, especially when Msg. Henchall said at a Sunday Mass that the God we worship was a God of Outrageous Love.
Outrageous Love and punishment don’t go together.
This year in an earlier blog, we wrote what C.S. Lewis had to say about Purgatory, which was that we will ask for Purgatory so we can be cleansed from our sins, which made me, yes me, feel a lot better because it didn’t change God from a God of Outrageous Love, to a God demanding retribution.
This past week I was on YouTube and was drawn (The Holy Spirit) to Father David Calloway, who is a Theologian and a great speaker. His 25 minute talk was on What Happens to Your Soul in the First 3 Minutes After Death. Answered every question I have ever had.
And
Just as Bishop Barron said, when standing before a picture of Jesus Crucified, “This is a picture of Joy!” Fr. Calloway said we will feel an intense burning longing for God which is Joyful and the Joy will only be surpassed when we are one with God in Heaven.
In fact Fr. Calloway said the Joy you will feel in Purgatory is second only to the Joy you will feel in Heaven.
Wow!!!
Joy here and now on earth even as we are being attacked by satan, Joy in Purgatory, second only to the ultimate Joy when we are in Heaven united fully with a God of Outrageous Love.
The Joy we feel on earth is our first taste of Joy, Purgatory is second, with Heaven being the Ultimate Joy.
Interesting I, yes I, never thought we would connect the dots as we have today. By the way the three Joys are a Holy Number.
