Wednesday, May 12, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it.”

The Holy Spirit inspired our blog.

Optional Memorial of Our Lady of Fatima

While Jesus was speaking,

a woman from the crowd called out and said to him,

“Blessed is the womb that carried you

and the breasts at which you nursed.”

He replied, “Rather, blessed are those

who hear the word of God and observe it.”

Emphasis mine, Luke 11:27-28

This is a first for me. It’s six pm and Gail and I have worked in the garden this morning. I next played nine holes of golf in the afternoon, wrestled with the phone answering system which didn’t work, and now does, and I am tired, but decided to start next week’s blog anyway.

Since we live in Maine our Spring has just started, and Gail and I couldn’t wait to get back into the gardens and enjoy the flowers Gail plants.  I only do the bull work, and Gail keeps me far away from the flowers because my theory was  if it pulls up easily it’s a flower, replant it, and  if it pulls up hard, it’s a weed, and throw it away.

In thinking about this God is just the reverse.  What God asks of us at first seems hard, then we do as our Father asks and we find it was easy and kick ourselves for procrastinating.

I mentioned Golf in the afternoon, and we have changed our game once again.  When I was at my family’s Guy’s Golf trip, when we had a good shot I did thank my Father, but this was all internal, no-one else knew what was going on.  A thought occurred to me (The Holy Spirit) that football players, and many players of other sports point to Heaven when they do something great to give the credit to God, NOT to them.

Our game is better, maybe not score wise, BUT I am filled with Joy, there’s that word again.  When I’m in the Garden I am enJoying being with Gail and enJoying the change that takes place through our efforts.

And the word of God is what?

To Love God with your whole heart, mind, body and soul, and your neighbor as yourself, and that is exactly what happened throughout the day,

and

blessed are those

who hear the word of God and observe it.”

And as we have reported many times, I am blessed to be able to write this blog and enjoy a relationship with many of our readers.

Prayer:

If you want to grow in Love, Joy and Peace this is a result of growth in Patience, Kindness, Generosity, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control.

Sidebar:

Last week we suggested you watch a four hour interview and the subject was satan, and how satan works in all of our lives.

Fr. Chad Ripperger said abortion was one of the things that started our society, and all societies that allow abortion, on the down hill slide.  I agreed intellectually, because I was alive when the Supreme Court by a one vote margin approved abortion.

I remember clearly when a pro life person came to talk to us, and said when this point is brought up, for abortion, the pro life people would  use argument forty- eight.  Right then and there I knew we had lost, where was the passion from this person and there wasn’t any.

Mike, our oldest son, sent me a video of Texas Rep. Brandon Gill asking an abortion advocate, what form of abortion did she feel was the best?

He next spelled out each abortion procedure in great detail and after each procedure asked the abortion advocate if this was her favorite form of abortion?

This I believe is a very legitimate question.  When I had my prostate problem I had a choice between a TERP, (Men I know who had this procedure called it a roto-rooter) and a HoLAP, (in which the surgeon cleans out the inside of the prostate).  I chose the HoLAP and am very glad I did.

The abortion advocate tried as hard as she could to change the subject, because the three methods of performing an abortion are horrific.

The thought (The Holy Spirit) occurred to me that satan gets a pass when we only say abortion, and not refer to the procedure.

But,

What can we do?

Pray for an end of abortion, become aware of how heinous every procedure is, and speak up if you have the opportunity.

I (like many) think orchids are beautiful.  In addition to the flower, I see a bird element in all of these.  God sure does have the most fascinating ways of entertaining us and making us aware of His majesty.  At least to those who have eyes to see.  Picture by Jerry Torres
