Monday of the Second Sunday of Advent-Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the BVM, December 8th 2025

Today, we celebrates the Solemnityof the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM). This feast is not about Jesus’ conception, but about Mary’s: that from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace of God and in view of the merits of Christ, she was preserved from all stain of original sin.
Why would God do this?
Because God was preparing a home—a living sanctuary—for His Son.
The eternal Word who created the universe would take flesh, not in a palace built by human hands, but in the heart and womb of a young woman. And so, God adorned that heart with purity, freedom, and grace.
Some people think Mary’s Immaculate Conception makes her distant from us, untouchable, impossibly perfect. But the truth is the opposite: Mary shows us not what is unreachable, but what is original—what God intended for humanity from the beginning.
Mary is the “new Eve”
Mary teaches us how grace and freedom work together
When the angel stood before her, she freely responded:
“Be it done unto me according to your word.”
Grace didn’t replace her freedom; it enabled it.
Grace never crushes us; grace completes us.
In a world that often confuses freedom with doing whatever we want, Mary reminds us that real freedom is the ability to choose the good joyfully. Her yes changed the course of history, not because she was powerful, but because she was available. Are you available?
Have a wonderful Week

  1. Thank you Father. The “new Eve” brings us hope and courage to trust in the way of God. Blessings and peace to you this Advent and always.

  2. Thank you Father Peter. Excellent reflection. Freedom does not equal doing whatever feels good but choosing what is good as per the Lord’s will. His is so true and,as you had said, often misunderstood.
