Maximilian Maria Kolbe OFMConv was a Polish Conventual Franciscan friar, priest, missionary, and martyr. He volunteered to die in place of a man named Franciszek Gajowniczek in the German death camp of Auschwitz, located in German-occupied Poland during World War II.
As we are on the eve of the Assumption of Our Lady feast, all I can think of is the immense devotion the Lord has to our mother, and no one who doesn’t want to can pass through to God without a nudge from her.
While Saint Kolbe was preaching and living his faith as a Catholic, he gave up and sacrificed his life in utter faith and happiness. I often think back to when I didn’t even want to share stuff at times or help someone with small or big tasks outside the world of my work or scope for fear of repercussions—I realised as I worked with cancer survivors, we have just one life to live—we need to ensure we put all our faith out into everything we do…often it just doesn’t feel like it!!!
Lets just focus on one act of love we can do every day—making us return our lost souls. Focus on being better persons .. everyday !
AMEN
