All of us have run into similar situations at Church or in life. If you speak to a police officer who puts his or her life in danger every week, you would receive a warning that not all these poor troubled souls are just people down on their luck. A cop can run a warrant and get a history. That having been said that their is a danger, it does not stop us from showing mercy, because that is our mission. We need to be reasonable and loving and give them our coat if need be, but we must treat all as God’s children. Mother Terresa had the Anyway Prayer”If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.Be honest and sincere anyway…….In the final analysis it is between you and God.It was never between you and them anyway.”Mother Terresa was paraphrasing a poem by Kent M Keith. The message is the same, we have to extend mercy anyway. We have to be aware that there are dangers and we may be duped or fail but we still have to extend Christ’s mercy anyway, because in the final analysis it is only between us and God.

Oh Mary you hit the nail on the head with this one. The words of Divine Mercy, ” I trust in Jesus” is so hard to live …my heart wants to but it and my head are so scared to be “lifted up”. I keep praying and centimetre by centimetre I give more of my life over. The words cloudy, confused and divided are accurate but with out peace. I am learning to live in the moment and trust. Thank you it is comforting that to know I do not walk alone. Blessings on you and your day.

You share such a challenging reflection. Yet in today’s world, we as Christ’s followers, may be placed in a situation in which we have to choose to be “lifted up.” I think and pray about this possibility–how steadfast is my faith in my Father’s promises? Dear Mary, fear has been a constant struggle in my life. Crazy as it sounds, hearing that others have these fears and questions gives me comfort. I pray for guidance everyday and hope that I’m doing Gods will. Thank you for sharing

I gain such peace reading your thoughts. You express my inner thoughts and I realize that it is ok that I am not perfect. It’s a journey.
