Remember the movie Aladdin? A genie grants Aladdin three wishes which he uses to win Jasmine before going through various escapades. There was also the movie Bedazzled, where the devil in the form of a beautiful woman played by Elizabeth Hurley grants Elliot Richards (Brendan Fraser) seven wishes to get the girl of his dreams in exchange for his soul.

What would our answer be, if God appeared to you and me today and said “Ask something of me and I will give it to you?” Beware, the Evil One comes in all shapes and forms and sometimes our most longed-for wish can also be the most destructive!

A couple of lines you wrote today stuck a cord with me.
“O how often have we dwelt in repeated sins and the embrace of false treasures and the glittering pearls that the world offers to us.”
And, “Most of the time, we are chasing false treasures such as money, status or pleasure, and often, we are locked into regrets over the past, or focused too much on the future.”
That is exactly what I’m trying to break free of in my whole life. Oh, I can break free for periods of time but then back to my old ways.
Please pray for me and others in the same situation and perhaps teach me how to properly pray for help.
