Rite of Distributing Holy Communion Outside of Daily Mass
Deacon or lay leader: In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. The grace and peace of God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
All: And with your spirit.
Deacon or lay leader: Brothers and Sisters, let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to receive Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.
All: I confess to almighty God
and to you, my brothers and sisters,
that I have greatly sinned,
in my thoughts and in my words,
in what I have done and what I have failed to do,
through my fault, through my fault,
through my most grievous fault;
therefore I ask blessed Mary, ever-Virgin,
all the Angels and Saints,
and you, my brothers and sisters,
to pray for me to the Lord our God.
Deacon or lay leader: May almighty God have mercy on us, forgive us our sins, and bring us to everlasting life.
Liturgy of the Word
First Reading – Responsorial Psalm – Gospel – Homily by a Deacon or a written reflection by a priest is preferred
Deacon or lay leader: Let us now offer to God our Prayers and our needs.
After the intercessions have been given, the presider continues:
Deacon or lay leader: Almighty God, you have heard our prayers and our needs. We ask that you grant them through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.
Deacon or lay leader: At the Savior’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:
All: Our Father Who Art in Heaven …
Deacon or lay leader: Behold the Lamb of God, behold him who takes away the sins of the world. Blessed are those called to the supper of the Lamb.
All: Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.
Deacon or lay leader: Now the presider reverently receives the Eucharist quietly, saying: May the blood of Christ keep me safe for eternal life.
Deacon or lay leader:
Let us pray,
Lord, Jesus Christ,
you gave us the Eucharist
as the memorial of your suffering and death.
You renew us at your table with the bread of life.
May this food strengthen us in love
and help us to serve you in each other
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Deacon or lay leader: May the Lord bless us, protect us from all evil and bring us unto everlasting life.
Deacon or lay leader: Go in peace, glorifying the Lord by your life.
All: Thanks be to God.
